Have you ever had trouble correctly labeling certain colors? Well, you won’t have that problem again, thanks to writer and children’s book illustrator Ingrid Sundberg, who cleverly created a color thesaurus to help you name any color imaginable.
Sundberg’s color thesaurus is comprised of a series of charts containing several variations of common colors like white, tan, yellow, orange, etc. While her charts include several known color names such as fuchsia or navy, there are also unique labels like parmesan, flamingo, and denim in the tan, pink, and blue categories, respectively.
Sundberg created the guide as a tool to collect words to help with her writing.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Sundberg explains the motivation behind her color thesaurus:
“There was no official color guide. This was something I made for myself based on color words I liked and the colors the words evoked for me… I’ve learned that we all have different associations with color words. For example, the color sapphire is a light blue to me (since that’s the color of the sapphire on my engagement ring), but a sapphire can also be a very dark blue. I doubt there can be an ‘official color guide,’ as color is so subjective.”

That’s pretty cool and I chuckled a little when I got to the black square and almost all of them were the same color.

Very interesting. My favourite’s the browns, especially as most are food-based. The reds are lovely. The confusing ones for me are the blacks. I also didn’t think jade was black.
