Foursquare just recently announced a partnership with Delivery.com, a leading online platform for local ordering and on-demand delivery.

This integration will enable customers to order food and alcohol with the Foursquare app.

This partnership will not only offer an enhanced customer experience to millions of Foursquare and Delivery.com users by allowing them to order food and alcohol online. But also it will be a huge boost to local vendors and small businesses.

Foursquare Director of Business Development David Ban said in a release, “We love being able to offer market-specific services that enrich consumer experiences and help consumers connect with great local merchants — like through delivery via delivery.com.”

As customers fall in love with getting things delivered to their doorsteps, a large number of ecommerce companies are tying up with local retailers and small businesses to meet the growing demand. This helps a local grocer to reach customers in localities he or she wouldn’t be otherwise able to penetrate.

Delivery.com, alone, works with 10,000 local businesses across 36 cities, including local restaurants, grocery stores, wine and spirits shops, and laundry and dry cleaning providers.

Earlier this year, Caviar Catering, a Square-owned company, launched its Caviar for Teams to allow companies to order food deliveries for as many as a few hundred people. Through this venture, Caviar could reach out to hundreds of local restaurants and eateries in select cities across the Unites States.

For a local restaurant in this particular case, these partnerships are a huge opportunity to branch out beyond their neighborhoods and established customer base, especially because restaurants primarily grow because of word-of-mouth. The potential to grow and attract new customers via these associations is enormous.

Infrastructure is often a challenge for local businesses since many do not have the budget of larger chains. If these barriers can be removed with an intricate supply chain and robust customer support, these local businesses will flourish and will be able to offer better and more diverse services.

  2. I think that this could be very useful thing actually.
This means that you can open the Foursquare app, discover a restaurant or other merchant that offers delivery via Delivery.com. Then you will be directed to Delivery.com’s app for placing your order and making a payment. Sounds good and practical for me 😀

Thank you for the article !

  3. Will these services be available on an international scale?
