Over the past several years, the handmade or homemade crafts community has grown from a tiny niche to a full-fledged industry. Craft websites like Etsy have led the way for allowing makers of all types to sell and market their products to a global audience online.

But Etsy is only one of the places to sell handmade crafts online. Below is a list of 25 websites where you can sell and market your handmade or homemade crafts and find new homes for them.

Homemade Crafts

According to a research by the Association For Creative Industries,  the total size of the US creative industry was worth $43.9 billion in 2017. The growth from the previous survey, which was carried out in 2011, was an impressive 45 percent.

The market size is growing even more as more individuals sell their creations on craft websites around the world. People who create handmade crafts are no longer limited to local flea markets and shops.

  1. Don’t forget about aftcra! aftcra is a newer handmade marketplace where you can buy and sell handcrafted goods made in the USA. aftcra is the only marketplace dedicated to handmade, and the only marketplace featuring goods made in America. Shop or sell with us at http://www.aftcra.com.

  2. We use several of these online marketplaces. Some are easier to sell off than others. Our favorite is ETSY. The seller’s customer service is user friendly and we are finding good results.

    • I disagree about easy…they seem to have no human contact and will not communicate with you on any issue other then on an email and shut you down without notice..
They determine what you make..without asking to verify you make it.

      • I agree I have opened a store there in 2016 for almost 1 year I had few sales but had spent a lot of money on fees…renewals..supplies spend a lot of time creating listings, communicating with clients then in march 2017 they closed my shop without any explanations and won’t open again easy is heartless and have double standard. Horrible

      • I`m with you Sandra about etsy they were like that with me and they closed my store down without any notice.

      • I agree, my Etsy store has done absolutely nothing, I have done better selling off FB. I have worked my store hard, changed things around by asking advice and researching other Etsy stores that sell similar items. That is why I am looking for something else.

      • I agree. Etsy was a little better in days past but after what appears to be a new management crew, they have really lost any sense of humanity. Makes me wonder if Zuckerberg has gotten involved with Etsy. I don’t waste my time with that site anymore.

      • Andrea Thompson

I am expecting Etsy to close my shop, I am dealing with a very unreasonable buyer that is going to leave a negative review. While they agree that I have done everything possible they will close me down right before my busy season. I am new have 90 sales with 20 reviews 4 of them negative. The 4 negative reviews were completely unwarranted and nothing to do with the quality of items. For example, I made a dress for someone, months later after the event she leaves a 1 star review stating that it did not fit correctly. I was never made aware, how can I provide a solution if not made aware? Etsy does not care, just collect fees off our backs and they slam the door in our face.

Please let me know any tips you might have for FB selling or any other platform. I make costumes and my season is fast approaching. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • Douglas Tapling

I’ve been on Etsy for a while and they transition to policy shifts without member input. The fees jumped a short while ago and now they’ve set up Etsy accounts to funnel sale dollars through their holding bank(s). Seems related to going Public on Wall St and probably a structural organizational change. Still, good, but lost the closeness with the shop owners…. imho

      • I have had an Etsy store of handcrafted items since Sept of 2012. In that time i have been a five star seller. This past month I offered face masks Making and shipping over 1k masks in 28 days. I have 180 plus happy reviews and received five unhappy reviews. One claimed to not receive her mask when she did. I reported that review and it didn’t meet their policy to take down. Another wanted a refund and to keep her masks and now I have an “open claim” against me. The first thing Etsy sent was if I refund fully they would close the case. Now im waiting to see if they shut me down. They also charge extra now if they believe a customer came to you through their adds. NEVETR did they consult the sellers about this. It just showed up.

    • This use to be true. IT IS NO LONGER A SMALL FEE-MORE LIKE 20% OF YOUR PROFITS. Now it is the most expensive place to sell. Etsy forced sellers to pay for off-site ads which increased their costs 12-15%in a year. Etsy does not allow you to choose what will be advertised and what it will cost. The cost of google off-site ads to be recouped in the listing and final sell fess. Last year Etsy forced us to offer free shipping as Josh Silverman, CEO, wanted to mirror Amazon. People did not use to associate Amazon with handcrafted and craft items. This year, you are considered a successful seller, Etsy will penalize you by charging an additional 12-15% more if you make more than $10,000 in sales. This is a lot of increase in two years. Many Etsy sellers are disgusted. Etsy leadership did nothing to promote their Sellers but to penalize them for their success. The executive rewarded themselves handsomely with increased compensation, stock options, and grants.

  3. Beth @ Tie Back Store

This is a great resource – thanks! Some of these I’ve never even heard.

  4. Also don’t forget A-Z Craze! We have plans ranging from one dollar to five dollars per month! http://www.azcraze.com

  5. you can also sell your crafts for FREE at gocrafti.com sellers hub. Gocrafti provides unlimited bandwidth, sellers panel, payment gateway, courier services free of cost.

  6. Don’t forget Etsy. It’s a site made for homemade items including clothes, jewelry, toys, art, etc. Though I do believe the amount needed to open a shop on there is $20.00

    • It’s free to open a shop on Etsy.It costs 0.20 $ per item posted and 3.5% per item/order sold plus what paypal takes.

    • Etsy sucks, they’ve become nothing but bullying tyrants. Closing shops without notice or explanation. Allowing other shop owners who are insecure, jealous of YOUR products because you are competition to file false reports that you’re copying them and then shut you down or threaten you with lawsuits.

      • Yes!!!! This happened to me! Grossed 6 figures on Etsy last year and was shut down a month ago for this same reason! They refused to speak to me and blew me off like I was nothing.

  7. hey.can we sell our product from india on ETSY.i mean i am little bit confuse if some of my product will selected there sending chargs is extra…if anybody have an idea please reply..

  8. There is an other great marketplace for artisans in emerging countries like India, Indonesia and Mexico: https://www.discovered.us/. By buying here you don’t only get a unique, special product for yourself, but you also help artisans in those countries earning a living by doing business. So it is not only about great products, but also about a good cause.

    • I have been with Etsy since 2010 and it does have good traffic of bringing in customers who buy my handmade products, of course paying quite a lot of fees to renew my items. However, my sales dropped since about 2 years ago(I guess because due to the global bad economy as well), but I still try to have confidence…However, recently Etsy just suspended my Shop without telling me why! This makes me really upset, they are handmade by me with love and trying to earn : ( I wonder what is wrong with them??

      • I am new to Etsy and it seemed to go well…took a little while to get going but recently the new “shop manager” they have foisted on us is truly awful and I am gathering from various threads that there are other issues too…but the new stats design, etc is very bad indeed, and I only found this thread because I am having a look at other selling platforms! People do NOT look at sites that are user UNFRIENDLY, ask any web designer worth their salt! People just move on and look elsewhere…Etsy take note.

You ask a good question, what is wrong with them?! The whole world seems to be in uproar about these site changes and yet they do nothing. You have my sympathy!

      • Douglas Tapling

Cloud, they changed the way “sales” dollars are handled. Comment from them follows that they want the buyer to have the same experience world wide(I don’t travel to foreign countries to buy things on Etsy…. weird logic). It was a get on board approach or they suspended your store. NOTE: Sales dollars are funneled to “your” account and paid to where you direct them each Monday. Suppose as large as Etsy is, they can pick up the odd dollar or two in a bank that offers a daily interest to them?????

  9. Kidscraftbay.com is a site dedicated to the sale of kids crafts

    • Why is there only 5 users? It looks like it could use some new owners. Like me. 😉 Just kidding, although I would like to help them out.

  10. I’ve been with Etsy since 2011, have only sold a hand full of my hand crafted items, and there is quite a variety of items. I believe I’ve been targeted on some of my handmade items and have had some deactivated by Etsy on numerous accounts. Why would a company making thousands of dollars want to report someone with hardly any sales? So I’m having second thoughts, and plan on slowly not renewing any of my expired items.

  11. I am looking for a place to sell my sewn items…. fabric glasses cases, tote bags and a specialty hat that I make. I try to keep them one or two of a kind and will try to give choice of colors. This might mean shopping so please contact me. I don’t have a website yet but list on ebay and handmadeartists.com.

  12. I have been selling on Etsy for years and love it. I have sold a lot of items and have had no prolem with them. I also sell on ebay but like Etsy better.

    • Linda, how are you feeling about Etsy the past 2-3 months? I’ve been there since 2011 and all was going good until now…no traffic, no sales.

      • Since Etsy shut down my shop unreasonably and I have lost all my customer good reviews and feedbacks, which are very important for online shops and to get potential customers… Now I have to start All over again in other platforms : (( It is just upsetting.

  13. You forgot Ravelry.com (unless I overlooked it in the list)

  14. I do not like Etsy… after all was said and done, I did not make much.. and in order to be seen you have to pay a lot of money for promoting. It started out a good place, but was not happy with it. This is a good list of other possibilities… does anyone know or rate this list?

  15. What a great list of places to sell handmade! May I make a suggestion? How about adding a WowThankYou (www.wowthankyou.co.uk) to the list – we are established marketplace (since 2009) and support UK based artisans, crafts people and designers. We are friendly community and always welcome new partners to join us.

  16. Thank you for the great post!

Do you have any recommendations of Australian artists and hobbyists as this is mostly UK and USA based artists.

I find it quite difficult for us Australian artists to find a good platform to sell.

  17. Hi Annie, My wife and I own and operate CustomHeritage Art & Sign. Our products are currently only available through one single platform other than local/word of mouth. We are looking for ways to expand as we truly love what we do. Thanks for your time.

    Thanks
    -Josh
    CustomHeritage

  18. Great list.I actually use etsy and bonanza.Etsy listing fee of 0.20 is for 4 months.
Supermarket seams off or its just me?
I also use manocreativa.it for italian buyers .Listing fee is € 0.20 for 12 months and 0 fees on sales.
    Cheers

  19. Great list! It could be a nice idea to create a list of narrow niche marketplaces to sell and buy handmade stuff. Like Tedsby or Bearpile to sell and buy just handmade teddy bears.

  20. I am SO disappointed in what I review at ALL “Crafty” selling sites online! The huge producers overseas (like China etc) are flooding the market with all sorts of cheaper-than-I-can-make-it items. It’s not worth the hassle to list, communicate, research, etc online selling sites for my handmade products! I buy all my supplies retail and can’t compete – My solution is local trade and craft fairs. They brig in a huge variety of folks who are looking for local made – one of a kind products. I sold online for years on Ebay before it became flooded by China. So sad the little guys are knocked totally out of competition!.

    • What is the best way to find local craft shows? This area used to have a lot of them, but recently I’m not finding as many. It would be nice if they were publicized better. Has anyone tried local farmers’ markets? I realize a lot of crafts wouldn’t sell at these, but I’m about ready to try.

      • When I lived in Houston there was a great flea market on I – 59…Check the Houston chronicle classifieds for times.
I also have sold on handmadeartists.com
Just google your town and flea markets or craft sites……

      • festival.net or on facebook go to Groups and search for vendor events of festivals and you will be amazed at what you pull up.

    • Mary, you are too right. Avoid Etsy. They are NOT for handmade items. They allow a beach bags mass produced from China then machine mogrammed by the store and call that handctafted? Not even close. I had a store a few years ago. Sold six items in nine months. Fail.

  21. You can also purchase 100% handmade crafts by talented crafters within the UK at our new website which will be launching in 2 weeks time. Also sell via the website too! Low fees, no listing fees, listing limits or listing time. Just add the products and then you just sit back and watch the sales come in!

  22. Etsy has really changed. I disabled my store and now that I am back and listing my items….last week only 13 visitors, someday 1 or none. It used to be that when you listed your products will circulate now the first pages are ad after ad:(. If I search for another item irrelevant ads with cheap stuff comes up. I think it’s a nuisance. I liked the old etsy better. Glad I sell in person! I am looking into another venue to add The Spirited Jewel too!

  23. I still can’t see an alternative to etsy, the problem is that etsy does not have a viable competition when it comes to handmade/vintage/supplies. I’ve been selling my items there since 2012 and they truly saved my life. My problem is that since the new CEO Josh Silverman they became way more tyrannic and greedy. What I and most of other etsy sellers dislike that they come up with changes and they ignore their life source, not the investors, us the sellers.
Pros to etsy: brand with 10+ years , they promote your listings on google and onsite traffic is great, their fees are relatively cheap (at least in my experience).
The bigges con of etsy: Out of touch , ignorance when it comes to development, they don’t care about what sellers think.

    • Ron…Etsy is too big for the little guy/newcomer to get any results. If I have three quilts to sell, I am joining 2,000 other people selling quilts. How am I to compete in that market? Most of us are moving on to another way to market online.

  24. I have a store in Etsy and at Handmade by Amazon. I have had many sales on Etsy, but only one on Amazon in a year.

  25. Amazon has “Handmade by Amazon” that caters to handcrafted goods. They don’t charge a lot and you can choose how you want to handle your products, fulfilled by seller or fulfilled by Amazon.

    • Amazon handmade has lots of items that are mass produced and not handmade I will not sell on the site anymore

  26. Hi there, I am from Papa New Guinea and I would like to sell my ebony carvings online. What would be the best site to sell my products without paying any listing fees? This is my first time to try selling online. Thanks in advance.

  27. Thanks for the list and especially the comment section.
I sell on Etsy and have noticed that there are new policies coming out a lot lately, yet some of the things they said they were working on have not shown up. (They added an option to have a SKU about a year ago but still have not added it to the download spreadsheets. Why bother???) That said, I have been pretty happy with past performance although it does seem to be costing more and more recently.
On another note, I am looking for other options. It would be great to have some more ratings on the sites listed above. Does anyone have experience with Bonanza, or Zebbit? Also I am looking for a site to sell wholesale as well. Has anyone used Alibaba for that?
    Glad I found this site.

  28. I want to start selling my fleece hats but honestly it sounds scary. At the same time I do not want to meet people in public places and sell my wares. Any suggestions?

    • Hi Rona, why not check out Makingmart, a social network and marketplace for crafters. You can sell anything to do with craft and your handmade products too. Fees are low, and there is a strong emphasis on community support and encouragement. You can join groups and forums and set up your own Makingmart blog to get found more easily online.

  29. How about some live links the theses sites???
    DAH!

  30. Etsy is a complete waste of time and effort. Been there for years but hardly any sales. It seems that things just do not get seen.

  31. Thank you for all the hard work involved in compiling this wonderful list. Everyone’s comments help also.

  32. I am not having much sales from etsy now so I quit that. I need to try Handmade by Amazon. Thanks to author for introducing a new site to me.

  33. I am a female(63+) small new business started before Covid hit in March.
No way to get infront of people. Looking for the best place and you have listed many, to see my specific product.
    Stained Glass

Thank you for your time and connect.
    Kindest of regards,
    Mary Jo Hobbs

  34. Lynda Hardin-Poston

Etsy has become ultra-liberal. On their landing page in bold letters it says “Black Owned Businesses”. What difference does the ethnicity of the owner have to do with the product itself? All that does is give free advertising for a certain segment of the population!! I am a WHITE 76-year-old senior citizen hand-making items to sell to supplement my small Social Security income which is inadequate for my needs. Why don’t they support senior citizens? The color of your skin doesn’t determine your ability to create or your economic need. I find their bias insulting and unprofessional. There is NO reason to offer special perks for any particular segment of the population whether it be color, country, age, physical disability, etc., everyone should be equal and let the products speak for themselves. Who you buy from should have nothing to do with the owner’s ethnicity or anything else and Etsy should be ashamed of itself showing such partisanship.

  35. Etsy has a good collection and we are using Etsy for a long time, get the best result. customer support is easier than any other marketplace. Etsy has lots of products with different varieties. I am a seller at Etsy and sold many handmade products. This article gives me information about many other marketplaces so thanks to the author for this informative article.

  37. We are working in Handmade Felt and Tapestry Art since many years. We are producing decorative art with our brand new e-shop “Felt and Tapestry Art”.

  38. Homemade crafts ads on Facebook may seem like a brainer with its millions of users. However, your home-made crafts company can go unnoticed by thousands of companies who are competing for customer interest without a strategic Facebook marketing plan. It is crucial that when you market potential buyers of home made artisan work , using high resolution images and engaging video of your craft and company. you obtain their attention quickly to encourage them to return to your website every day and to click on your website to purchase. So, Facebook can be a ideal option for selling handmade crafts online.

  39. Etsy does a lot of sales for us and we are happy to use Etsy. It got a feature of Etsy ads that just helps in bringing on the sales and traffic to the listing.

  40. Hello, this information and product are very amazing!
Thanks, for providing this useful information. If you want any query about handmade paper visits my site.

  41. I always loved going to craft shows and markets, so when the pandemic started I asked some local artists to just start their own site, so they did! The site launched around 2 months ago- artatyourdoorstep.com I already purchased a wood mirror and chocolates. They only charge the vendor $5 a month and any sales are directly between artist and buyer, so no middlemen cut. They said they may bring down the monthly fee to $3 or less next year, depending on hosting fees and other time expenses. Not easy building and maintaining a site, but they had nothing else to do.

  42. Hello, sir, I am following your blog for two weeks it’s really nice content good job sir, and thanks for providing this info.

  43. I really want to thank you for sharing this informative article with us. this article is really helpful for me. Special thank’s to the author of this article.

We have an online store that you can use easily for online shopping. the name of the online store is 1clickk.com. go and check the store. thank’s to everyone.

  46. I have a website with Shopify. Even though it connects with Facebook, Ebay & a couple others I’ve had to drive traffic to my site. I make couture quality hand-embroidered soutache jewelry that is laborious & unique in the US, but I see this style from other parts of the world for a fraction of the cost since their cost of living & supplies are far less & some don’t value their work for what it’s actually worth. I’m considering, posting a 50% off sale & shutting down my site. I really miss in person shows. Maybe there will be shows open this season (I’m in Florida). I will look into the above suggested sites. Thank you for your article!

  47. Something very fishy going on on Etsy. Just found out that 56 of my hand stitched items have expired in one day! I have never posted 56 items in one day! I renew as they expire to keep them active – except for seasonal items. The 56 item that expired on April 1st. are not seasonal! I would never make back what it will cost me to renew all of them as sales are very low because I can’t afford their ad costs or go for free shipping. Most of my items are low cost. As a senior citizen and handicapped, my crafts keep me busy, and selling a couple of things every month or so gives me pleasure. I would love to find a local shop to sell my items but there doesn’t seem to be any around where I live in NJ. Etsy was a good place back in 2012 when I started for hobby crafters. Not so much now.
